About The VSG
In April 2020 we began working with Artlink Member Mark Cullen (pixelrogue.com) to discuss ways in which we could develop a virtual program. Mark designed a virtual 3D replica of the Saldanha Gallery at Fort Dunree from photographs and site plans.
The online experience which was built on the Unity gaming platform allows visitors to stroll around the space at their leisure. There is no need to download software, users can navigate the space from their computer using a mouse and keyboard keys to move around.
A virtual space also allows artists to show their work in an innovative way that presents new opportunities for installing works not possible in reality. Overall this is a great resource for artists and audiences alike. It was launched on a Facebook Live event at 7pm on Sunday 26th April with an exhibition of Mark’s own ‘doodles’.
